I came to the hospital to bring both my father and my stepmother. My father was stage 4 lung cancer and being transferred to hospice but had to spend one more night in the hospital. I had a nurse named Kori who was the absolute best nurse I have ever encountered. While the floor had their hands full with me having 2 parents on the same floor and I literally had to run to the hall no less than 30-40 times that night; never once did Kori get mad or act like she was put out or tired. My father was out of his mind and even combative and every time I sent running for help for controlling him, Kori came running and treated my father like family to get him the most compassionate care. She made the most of a horrible situation for me.
She is the meaning of what a nurse is supposed to be. Most nurses would want to put a brief on my father, but he is a prideful man and it would make him feel like a child. Instead of making my father embarrassed she spent the extra 10 minutes to let him use a urinal and that means the world to me. Even when I apologized, Kori assured me it was fine and if we needed to change the sheets or clean the floor, we would leave him with his dignity. Thank you, Kori.
