My wife and I came in to the OB unit having just learned that we had just lost our son and would be forced to deliver a stillborn baby. Jaime was our nurse for two day shifts during our stay and they were the hardest day shifts to be a part of as they were the time that my wife was in induced labor which lasted almost 48 hours. Jaime made many appearances in our room whenever we called on her and even when we didn't to check up on us and to make sure that we were as comfortable as possible and to make sure we understood all that was going on she never acted as if she was rushed and always made us feel like the only people in the unit and was always one of our most compassionate supporters during this devastating time in our lives. She even sat with my wife and just talked for 45 minutes and listened to her feelings and concerns and did the best she could to console and to help her understand.
She never once took for granted the gravity of our situation. She was more than accommodating to not only us as patients but also to our entire family as she helped us set up a room for our family to stay in and be comfortable in. On the second day of our labor the possibility of a c section started to turn more and more into reality, Jaime mentioned that she feared that was going to happen when shift change was happening. My wife and I both hoped that it wouldn't as we didn't want anyone but Jaime with us during that time. Little did we know that Jaime was not going to allow that to happen and stayed 3 hours past her shift time to hold my wife's hand during her c section and was also the one who delivered me my son and stayed the entire time as our family spent our time with him that night.
She was and is a Godsend not only to us but to our entire family and both of our families will agree that nominee herself became a member of our family during her time with us. We will always look back at those days in our life with sadness but will always be able to smile a little because of the impact she had on our lives. My wife is an RN and fully understands the gravity of this award and that it takes a special person to earn one. Jaime is a living example of everything that healthcare should be and is because of nurses like her if anyone deserves this award it is her.

Jaime is a nurse on the maternity floor at Methodist Hospital. She was on duty when my daughter-in-law was admitted due to the death of her unborn baby resulting in a still birth. The care we all received from all of the staff was outstanding but Jaime went above and beyond. She took such good care of my son and daughter-in law and all of us as family. She took the time to answer our questions and explain things in detail over and over. She arranged for us to have a private room for family where we could gather together and wait for the delivery. She spent hours talking and listening to my daughter-in-law through the entire time. She made us feel like we were her only patients and was always there to give a hug when needed. After 48 hours of trying to induce labor it was decided to go ahead with a C-Section and of course it was scheduled just as Jaime was coming off of her shift. She stayed after her shift and held my daughter's-in-law hand during the procedure and was the one who brought the baby to my son who had opted not to be present during the C-Section. She ended up staying almost 2 hours past her shift to make sure we were all OK. If anyone deserves this award it is her. I cannot even begin to express our gratitude for her tender care during such a horrible time in our lives and I know we will never forget her, as will none of their family. Thank you!
