Laurie has a holistic approach incorporated in her plan of care, and she is consistently a patient advocate. Laurie had a Spanish only speaking patient and family in Endoscopy recovery. He needed to find a primary care physician and insurance. Laurie had come from Illinois Masonic Hospital and remembered they had a phone number to Espanocare which assists Spanish-speaking patients with this problem. She called Espanocare and they gave her a phone number to a facility that could help this patient. As she is leaving and walking to her car, she decides to call that number and finds out it is the wrong number. She googles the name of the facility and finds the correct number. She calls the Endoscopy secretary and gets the name of the patient and their phone number. She calls their house and with her broken Spanish and the patient's son's broken English, she is able to communicate the correct phone number.

This is an example of Laurie focusing on her patient's needs and goals. I am sure this patient and family have a special connection with Laurie for helping find answers to their problems.
