Prior to working at Sanford, Tina Wunder served overseas as a nurse in the Army. She is a valuable part of our team and goes to great lengths to support the patients we serve as well as the physicians and staff she works with. Our patients are appreciative of her kindness, compassion and dedication. On a daily basis, she goes above and beyond to make sure that patients have what they need and are well taken care of. She truly makes a difference in the lives of our patients.
Recently, when she was visiting her hometown of Delmont, SD to celebrate Mother's Day with her family, the tiny town was struck by a tornado. Knowing that her two small boys were safe with her Mom, she did not hesitate to venture out into the devastated town and help. She was among the first people to respond to the injured residents of Delmont. Not only did she help provide comfort and first aid, she assisted local emergency personnel with patient transport to the hospital. I can only imagine the calm and comfort she must have brought to each person that she touched that day. Her military training had prepared her. She knew exactly what to do; exactly how to care; exactly how to provide comfort in the midst of chaos.
While most of us would consider her acts extraordinary, I know that she would consider them only ordinary; what anyone else would do. She has spent her life in service to her country and to the patients she serves. She serves without hesitation. We are so honored to be able to work alongside this kind and selfless nurse, Tina Wunder.
