Ellis is very knowledgeable. He has experience in several fields of nursing. He has worked in ICU, Telemetry, Operating Room as well as PACU. I worked alongside Ellis in the ICU for many years. He is a very pleasant person and adds calmness to any situation. He is very competent, caring and compassionate. All of his patients ADORE him. His kindness and caring nature allows the patient to feel at ease with any procedure. He demonstrates a call to serve that is reflective of the BSHSI values. He is always dedicated to nursing excellence and delivers good Help to those in need. Ellis is a dedicated educator and patient advocate for all of his patients. He demonstrates a positive attitude and exhibits professionalism in all of his nursing actions.
Ellis always stays alert to the needs of his coworkers and provides assistance when needed in other areas of the hospital. He is always uplifting to patients and staff alike. He is hardworking, honest, and courteous. He is an innovative thinker and supports the core values of Bon Secours. He looks for ways to encourage stewardship and takes ownership of our hospital and its direction. Ellis is always approachable and finds time for staff, patients and families.
I would like to reflect back on a situation where Ellis shows his compassion for his patients. I was on my way in to work and a patient in the front entry was very worried and anxiety ridden before her surgery. She was tearful and I offered her a tissue. I stopped to talk with her and asked if I could help. In comes Ellis and she was immediately relieved. "I am so glad he is here, he was my nurse before and was right there for me". Ellis sat down with this patient and listened intently to her concerns. He kept eye contact with her and offered her answers to her questions after providing privacy so as not to impact HIPPA regulations. This relieved her concern and helped her to have less anxiety about the procedure she was having done on this day. She came back out to wait in the lobby with a smile on her face not the tears of an anxiety ridden patient as before. Elis does his job with a cheerful attitude and performs ordinary tasks at extraordinary levels.
