Someone that comes to mind as an epitome of what DAISY nurse exemplifies as a nurse role model is Irma Rosario BSN; she was able to recognize a special career changing event. Irma rose to the occasion to help a birth mother who made the "Safe Haven decision" in a respectful, nonjudgmental caring manner.

The Abandoned Newborn Infant Protection Act of Illinois protects birth mothers who safely chose not to harm their babies and give baby up in a protected and safe manner. No one will ask your name. Your baby will get good medical care and be adopted into a loving family. A mother can provide anonymous medical information to help establish a baby history.

Irma gave wonderful care to the birth mother and her newborn baby girl. Through her diligence and caring manner she made a protected atmosphere for birth mother respecting the anonymous nature of the situation. She also made sure mother had special memories of her birth and to let her know that there will be people in her life that care and love her very much for her personal decision.

If anyone is a role model its Irma and even though she is a novice nurse she gives great compassionate care and has great clinical skills.
