I saw Kristeen Serrat for 5 or 6 appointments in the first weeks of my daughter's life, as we were struggling at that time with breastfeeding. This is an experience that is fraught with all kinds of pressure and stressful emotions since the outcome is so very important. My experience of Kristeen's nursing care was exceptional and it stands out to me as one of the most stellar examples of competent healthcare I have ever experienced.
Kristeen was friendly and professional, knowledgeable, light-hearted when it was called for and serious and direct when it mattered. She was incredibly empathic in this process and, for a woman struggling to feed her child, that quality and skillfulness cannot be underestimated in importance. She was encouraging and absolutely believed that my daughter and I would succeed, and we did!
My aunt attended many of our appointments with us and it was her idea to nominate Kristeen for this award, in fact, because she was so impressed herself with the care we received. I can't tell you how good it felt to celebrate with Kristeen at our later appointments. I can still see in my mind's eye Kristeen triumphantly holding up my infant daughter in the air over the scale, smiling brilliantly and exclaiming, "You did it!" I have since given her name to other women I know needing assistance and would refer anyone to her care. I would love for her to be publicly recognized for her service. I know that I will always remember and be grateful for her care of me and my little one. We are going strong at five months and it is absolutely thanks to Kristeen.
