Kirstin Wallin is an extraordinary nurse who improves the lives of all the patients she supports. Kirstin meets with all of our patients at each clinical visit and confirms they are aware of the many different ways to communicate with our team. Families rave about her accessibility, calmness, knowledge and compassion. They all find her easy to talk with, caring and willing to go to extreme lengths to help them. She is able to reduce parental stress while improving the lives of the children we work with. This is the epitome of customer based care.
In addition to her compassion and care, Kirstin has outstanding clinical skills. She has an incredible depth of knowledge for both general pediatrics and gastroenterology and is always learning more. This knowledge and her skills allow her to triage phone calls to providing care to the most critical children as quickly as possible. She has also willingly taken on tasks not previously done in Colorado Springs, to include replacing NG tubes in clinic. We recently had a patient with chronic C Diff infection that was not responding to antibiotics and Kirstin helped to coordinate a fecal transplant at the main campus. Our patient will be the second child to undergo this procedure with a close to 100% success rate. Kirstin's proactive care allowed the transplant to happen within a week of the medical decision being made. She is always willing to go the extra mile to make life easier and better for our patients. She motivates the team in Colorado Springs to go the extra mile.
Kirstin is an extraordinary nurse who meets and exceeds all the criteria of the DAISY award and should be applauded for her skills and dedication to her patients.
