Katie's priority is her patients and their needs and concerns. Her second priority is her co-workers (fellow nurses, MAs, PCCs), and how she can best help them to serve their patients. She is always there to help with a difficult situation or to discuss a patient concern to find the best solution possible. If she doesn't know the answer, she works furiously with all the departments within Swedish and caregivers in different systems to give the best of the best care.

She does what it takes to make sure the patient has the best care whether that is staying late to wait for last-minute records prior to surgery or spending more than an hour on the phone with a patient to make sure they are confident in the care they are receiving.

Katie has a way of connecting with each of her co-workers in a way that everyone plays a key role in the team and our clinic would not be successful without each person. She empowers people to be the best they can be and uses mistakes/oversights as "teaching moments". She sees the big picture and the details in situations and uses this skill to assist fellow co-workers in making the best decisions possible for the patients.

Katie is the go-to person in the office and is always willing to step in and help. She is a role model to fellow nurses as she sets an example of being a patient advocate, thorough clinician and respectful co-worker. She motivates you by passing on information she has gained that would help you improve your practice. She is always going to Spine Conference, grand rounds and recently completed Advanced Life Support Training in order to care for her patients better. she is always willing to answer questions and provide additional training to make sure you are performing your job to the best of your ability and the top of your practice. She has trained more than ten new nurses in the last 2 years and is a vital part of the Swedish Neuroscience Team.
