Laarni was my father's nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. He was in her care from about 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. while waiting for a bed to open up. Even though he was uncomfortable and frustrated, she never avoided him. She took the time to get to know both of us. She noticed that his head-bobbing meant he was in pain. And when he got crabby, Laarni made a point of doing the little things to make him happy - a new warm blanket, some extra soothing rub to his back, etc.

She even got him into a regular bed while still in recovery so he could get off of the cart! She knew he was disappointed in getting only clear liquids, so she made sure he got to pick all the clear liquids he liked. She even got his meal tray to his room promptly, right after he got there.

Even though she was busy,Laarni really made my Dad feel like he was important and well cared for!!!
