Jackie Richardson demonstrates professionalism and is a constant advocate for the care and safety of her patients. In her latest role in the psychiatric emergency department she has gone above and beyond to advocate to ensure the safety of each patient she encounters, this very special population who are at the highest risk to present for safety to themselves and staff. She has offered her assistance and expertise in the medical and psychiatric care for children, and their families. Jackie has demonstrated her compassion and care for families and their children every night.

We had a patient who passed away in the operating room before his family was able to see him and say their goodbyes. Jackie went to the viewing room and prepared the patient, to allow the family closure. She never met the family and they never knew what part she played in the care of their son, but it made the world of difference to this family to have that time with their son. She always goes above and beyond to add that special care to every patient she encounters as if they were one of her own family members.

Jackie encompasses the true art of nursing. By her excellent example she makes all that work around her better and exemplifies what nursing is and how the little things we do effects so many. Jackie not only cares for patients and families, but provides support education for staff and promotes excellent teamwork.
