Tonya was my nurse when they told me I had to have an NG tube inserted in my nose. I had never had one before. Tonya tried once but was unable to get it to pass. Tonya then went and got someone with a little more experience because she didn't want to hurt me anymore. They made three attempts to insert the NT and it was very painful and upsetting. Tonya stayed by my side and held my hand during each attempt. Once it was over I was in tears, She was still with me and asked if she could give me a hug. I said, "of course, yes". The fact that she took the time to give me comfort meant so much to me. Those gestures of compassion made me feel relaxed and comforted after the procedure. Tonya is a very special, loving, and caring nurse who doesn't hesitate to go above and beyond to care for her patients.
