I think Mary Rush deserves this award for several reasons. She always has such a bubbly mood and her smile and laughter are contagious. She actually sits and has conversations with me when I am feeling down, and being in Shadyside hospital on the 6th floor could make anyone insane. A lot of times when I'm in here and she doesn't have me as a patient, but she does make it a point to visit to see how I am doing. Honestly, this makes me smile! She puts everyone else ahead of herself regardless of the situation. If I could have her only as my nurse I would definitely never want anyone else. I would just want her. She has been my shoulder to cry on and she is always checking up on me just to make sure I am doing ok. I am so glad that Mary and I have formed such a wonderful friendship. I wouldn't be able to sit in the hospital 2 weeks straight and stay sane if it wasn't for her.

There was a point where I needed shampoo, conditioner, etc. She brought the stuff in for me the following day. This just goes to show how observant she is and how organized she is as well. There are so many other wonderful things she does. If I sat down to write them all, I would have a book. She deserves this award in so many ways, especially with all the crazy commotion she deals with every day. I wouldn't or couldn't ask to have a better nurse or friend. She is absolutely the best!!
