We fell in love with Anna. She not only made sure my husband was comfortable but also checked on me too! Following my husband's surgery she always asked if I needed anything, blanket, pillow, coffee, etc.... She even questioned if I was taking care of myself- sleeping, eating, and getting some exercise!
The one thing she did that really touched me is when I was leaving to go home and she saw me crying-- she came over to hug me and reassured me she will watch over him, gave me her number to call her and even checked to make sure they had mine.
When I didn't understand what the doctor's were doing or saying, she explained it in terms to me that I could easily explain to family members.
We like to call her "Our Hot Little Mess". She would come in all pretty for the start of her shift and by the end of her day her hair would be falling out of her pony tail and all over the place. You could tell she put in a hard days work and then some!
She has a personality about her that can calm you down in any situation and keeps control over things.
I have to admit I never really thought too much about being a nurse or what it all entails, but after watching Anna, I have learned that there is so much more to what they have to do. I can't think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Award than Anna!
...
EVERY day she is at work Anna makes a difference for EVERY patient. Recently Anna cared for a male patient whose wife was having a great deal of anxiety over her husband being in the hospital. The patient and his wife told me how wonderful Anna was as she came in, answered all of their questions, explained everything she was doing, and let them know what would be occurring with his care in the next few days. The wife stated that Anna was confident in her skills and was so sweet and funny that it put both her and her husband at ease knowing that they would be well cared for. After discharge, the wife returned to see Anna to thank her for everything she had done for the couple.
6 South appreciates Anna and her contributions to the team. She is always positive, can fill in the charge RN role easy (flexible), she is strong clinically, and extremely compassionate. Anna is also involved in Trinity community activities such as the live uncommon race team. I am proud of Anna and the excellent care she provides to our patients.
