Pat has been our vascular circulating nurse for quite some time now and has demonstrated consistent excellence in patient care. Pat has been the "go to" person in the operating room at Virginia Beach General for many years. She has become this person by being knowledgeable and approachable to all. When she is the circulating nurse in my cases, it immediately puts my mind at ease knowing that our patients are going to receive the best possible care. What separates Pat from others is her consistent excellence. It's every day- day in day out. Week after week. Year after year. Easy or difficult. Long or short. She understands patient safety and adherence to protocol better than any individual in medical/surgical care that I have ever worked alongside. Pat accomplishes this with a pleasant demeanor toward co-workers and empathy and compassion for patients. I know that she has mentored countless young RNs and we should continue to have as many operating room nurses be mentored by Pat as possible. Thank you for bringing in (and keeping) a nurse of Pat's caliber. She is a tribute to her profession and an enormous asset to SVBGH OR.
