Anna Spencer, RN, Unit 3B Stepdown, UPMC St. Margaret, was nominated by a patient's family member. The visitor writes,

"Over the past seven months, my brother and I have lost our parents who both were patients of St. Margaret and received exceptional care. About a month after my father had passed, my mother's cancer had returned and she was admitted to Unit 3B for care. I had the chance to meet Anna Spencer when she came on as my mother's nurse overnight. That evening, my mother had suffered an episode that required several tests throughout the night, and Anna stayed with my mother and held her hand. That truly was an amazing show of compassion."

The family member continues to say that the next morning after a shift change, she was caught off guard when Ms. Spencer walked into her mother's room, as she wanted to check on her and expressed her concern.

The patient's family will be forever grateful for the care Ms. Spencer provided their loved one in her final hours.
