My mother was a patient at Baptist South for about 3 months but thanks to the doctors and staff in MICU and SICU, she's still with us today! These nurses and doctors care for the most vulnerable and critical patients. Nursing alone requires knowledge (and a heart) that understands the complexity of both the medical and emotional needs of patients and their families. These RNs approach their work with positive attitudes and understanding of illnesses that may have affected their patients in devastating ways. Day in and day out, the compassion and kindness provided to their patients is immeasurable and this is why I, along with my entire family plus multiple friends would like to thank April Pugh. April went so far above and beyond the call of duty in providing amazing care for my mom, that she without a doubt deserves to be honored. April was the most compassionate and caring person we could ever have asked for to care for her. April was always honest, patient and definitely able to explain and manage a constantly evolving complex regimen in a way that enabled all of us to assist. She was able to talk to everyone about difficult issues in a thorough, compassionate, respectful and direct way. She not only keeps a smile on her face but she also always had the utmost grace and composure and never missed a single point of medical or emotional care. There is no possible way to clearly put into words how much April means to all of us. She made an unbearable situation bearable and will forever be a part of our family. April Pugh has the heart of an angel and is truly the best of what nursing should be. Thank you, April and we love you dearly.
