Karla is a nurse that exemplifies leadership and dedication to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She not only cares for her own patient, but helps out other nurses on the unit with putting multiple IV's in everyday as well as being a resource due to her knowledge and charisma she has as an experienced nurse. I have had the chance to take care of patients that she has previously cared for, and due to her dedication and outstanding care she provided for their child her name seems to always come up in conversation with the family.

Not only is she a wonderful nurse, but she is also a role model for the newer nurses in the unit by being a preceptor and answering questions appropriately and throughout even though time may be limited in a days work. I am honored to not only have Karla as a co-worker but also as a friend. Karla is the nurse without a doubt that I would chose to take care of a loved one of mine, as I know many other nurses would state the same. I feel that Karla should be recognized for her outstanding work as a nurse and also a role-model to the unit. She truly is a superhero when is comes to caring for her patients and co-workers! :)
