Johanna is the best example of leading by example. She is proficient and compassionate with every patient. Her intuition and clinical skills are superb and I never stop learning from her. I have seen her grow into the most tremendous nurse and patient advocate. She is always focused and can block out any distractions when she is doing patient care. There is not one nursing department that she could not concur with the most grace. Her patients are lucky to encounter her and remember her every time they come back. She is kind to every person she encounters and is the most patient and knowledgeable preceptor that a nurse could encounter. She holds a hand and consoles when someone is dying, hugs a family when they get good news and comforts the people who are lost. Our community and hospital are better because of her.

She treated me like I am human. I have a mental illness and I am in and out of the ER. She was patient, kind and nurturing. It is easy to label me and let my illness affect my care. She did not do that. She made me feel safe.
