Jon is one of those kind of nurses that when you show up for your shift, and see he is working with you, you know that no matter what kind of night it's going to be, you're glad he's there. He is always there helping when you get busy. He goes the extra mile every day. What is awesome is that is his normal. Even on nights where we have patients going bad left and right, he never shows frustration. Families love him. Working with him makes me a better nurse. I believe that is a rare trait to have. Good Shepherd should be honored to have him as an employee.
I had a patient come from another floor one night, she was crashing as soon as she got to me. Jon was swamped with his patients already, he stopped everything that he had going on and helped me set up for intubation, A-line, Central line, start my pressors, and help get the patient stable while I dealt with the doctors. We both ended up staying late to finish our charting that day. I knew he ended up finishing late because of me. As a nurse and friend I appreciated the extra work he put on his shoulders to help me out. I would take a crashing patient with him in the room with me any day. He definitely raises the bar.
