Lara was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient and her husband, who writes:
I arrived at Piedmont Medical Center as a first time Mom delivering 4.5 weeks early, out of state, on Labor Day in the early morning. I was nervous for our sons’s health and for the unexpected delivery. Lara and the rest of the excellent night shift L&D nurses helped to make us feel welcome, secure in delivering in a new hospital, and helped to coach me through the delivery. Lara knew that we didn’t have a camera with us since our son’s arrival was a surprise. Once stabilizing me and my son, she documented photos of our baby via her ipad and took the time to email them to us after her night shift to ensure that we had some memories of our little boy’s first few moments of life. The L&D care delivery team’s impact to our family during this milestone moment will never be forgotten. We thank Lara and the team for going the extra mile and making a positive impact on patient care.
