Deirdre Cramer, RN is an Extraordinary Nurse. As Monmouth Medical Center's PICC Nurse, she always exhibits the highest level of compassion and caring for our patients. Clinically, Deirdre is exceptional at placing both PICC lines and our "toughest sticks" around the hospital. She is an excellent resource for her peers, residents, and attending physicians exemplifying a teaching and caring relationship with all.
She has trained 3 PICC Nurses over the last several years, at times working as the only PICC Nurse for the hospital. She has worked 7 days a week for months at a time, rarely taking any time off for herself. she not only worked as the PICC Nurse but also as an outpatient Infusion Nurse on BBR4, as well as weekend coverage for outpatients on BBR2. She is truly a selfless, and caring nurse who shows the highest level of compassion for both the patients and the staff.
Deirdre always has a positive, professional attitude towards patients, families, and co-workers. Everyone around Monmouth Medical Center knows her by name, and many patients will only allow Deirdre to put in their IVs. She doesn't just insert their lines and leave; she spends time getting to know and comfort those patients. She always puts their needs before her own allowing them to express their feelings and fears.
With her gentle touch and sweet, kind, spirit, Deirdre has reached out and touched many souls along the way, honoring the mind, body, and spirit of all or our patients. This brings to mind one young, very fearful, needle-phobic woman who cried and had an anxiety attack every time she came for an infusion. With Deirdre's compassionate and reverential manner, acknowledging and assisting this patient in a kind and loving way, she was able to create a "miracle" of sorts in gaining her trust and eliminating her fear. Deirdre is great at making difficult situations successful by honoring each individual patient's dignity foremost.
Deirdre is a true role model of nursing at its best.
