Nikki works each day with a positive attitude. In her role, she faces many challenges and wears many hats in the department. For example, when AM report is given at huddle and there are challenges starting the shift with holds in the department, short staffing, or missing equipment, Nikki consistently steps up to the plate and demonstrates a positive attitude, offering suggestions to the obstacles and being a positive role model for others in how she problem solves.
Another example is her determination to excellence in whatever she is involved in. During EMS week, she scheduled herself to take lunch to all 5 fire stations which is a normal expectation of her role. The EMS officer told her another local hospital was already scheduled to bring lunch and maybe she could come later in the day. Knowing the importance of the working relationships and the importance of recognizing EMS week, she knew taking a late meal would not be seem as favorable as a lunch meal and would leave out some EMS providers. Instead of taking the path of least resistance, she went above and beyond by purchasing all the food needed to make breakfast for all 5 fire stations, got up at 4:30 in the AM to bake fresh egg casseroles and delivered a homemade breakfast to each station. The feedback from EMS was very positive. Her actions surrounding this event demonstrated her dedication and her loyalty to the work she does representing CHI Health Mercy.
Nikki is a positive role model in the department, not only has she been the encourager and resource for other nurses wanting to obtain certification or their BSN, she demonstrates the importance by obtaining her own BSN and MSN degrees. She made this decision to become even more of an expert in her current role. She is the kind of nurse who inspires others by her actions and encouraging words.
Nikki is known for her clinical expertise and her ability to teach others. She is respected by her peers and the physicians she works with. She has received compliments from patients for the compassionate care she gives. She is actively involved in our community, in our CHI Health system, represents nursing on multiple committees, and represents the profession of nursing as an extraordinary nurse!
From her coworkers:
Nikki is an excellent role model. She is precise in her work and strives to always take the correct course of action,
Acts as a strong teammate and follows through on her assignments. She is always willing to lend a hand when help is needed; her computer skills and expertise are extremely valuable. She is a great mentor and demonstrates teamwork by supporting other individuals and the department as a whole.
She is helpful and supportive of others as they strive to reach their goals. She is committed to compassionate, excellence, and quality care. Takes considerable efforts to ensure proper patient care is maintained and leads by example.
She consistently treats others with respect and professionalism even in times of stress.
She is a true Mercy Role Model. Working with direct patient care, and knowing the analytical side means she is not only an asset but she is an indispensable member of our team.
Nikki is a true team player, she has the 'can do' attitude and this has a direct effect on coworkers. This continuous attitude sets the tone for how the shift will go. She is nurturing and caring when providing feedback.
Very compassionate to her patients, goes above and beyond with her patient teaching.
