Our Dad was hospitalized at Sanford Medical Center. At the age of 92, his illness not only attacked his body, but also his mind, emotions and spirit. He was at times a difficult patient, as he refused his care and medications.
To add to the situation, Mom has dementia. This added another facet of care because they both felt the need to be close to each other. Any explanations given to her were soon forgotten.
Julia Bitz's compassion in caring for Dad, her patience in dealing with Dad's changing moods, her knowledge and willingness to spend precious time keeping us informed. And her intuition; when my brother and I needed to make code and care decisions in light of Dad's medical situation, her intuition told her we needed "A Hug".
