I have had 23 major operations between Morristown Medical and another hospital. Two years ago, I was in MMH and had Luis as one of my nurses. Several days ago, I was admitted to MMH for Congestive Heart Failure when Luis came into my room. I remembered the quality and compassion Luis provided me in previous stays. Luis is above and beyond the level of care a nurse is to provide. Luis made me feel secure. I knew I would be well taken care of. Luis communicated everything he was doing and would go to any length to reassure me, the patient, to understand the care the treatment team is providing. Luis's level of care left me knowing I was in good hands. He is at the same time professional, approachable and kind! At nighttime when I was feeling unsure, Luis ensured me of what to expect care wise. Another thing Luis exceeded at, he has a good sense of humor, which is very important to me. His respect for me, being in a place I have seen so often, meant a lot. He made me feel safe and cared for.
Luis, in my opinion, is a prime caregiver with an understanding of my disposition (which comes second nature). Being a nurse is "who he is" not what he does. Luis is the gold standard for the position. You are very, very lucky to have him.
