Kay Stenger is one of the best nurses I have ever known. When I met her, there was a calm put over me, and she was the reason. I love her. My wife and my daughter love her.

Kay is very sweet. I just love her. She makes my dialysis days very pleasant.

Kay is also recognized for always being encouraging. A patient said that he was very ill when he first came to Painesville for treatment. He said that Kay stood out. She does the little things that mean a lot and that she always made sure he understood what was happening. He said that she is always encouraging him and is very attentive. The patient's wife said that she spoils him, and her too.

A patient said that he had missed three treatments because he was sick. Kay called him at home and educated him on his disease process and encouraged him to seek treatment. When he came in for his next treatment, he said that Kay sat with him and spent a lot of time explaining why it is important to come to dialysis. He said he has not missed a treatment since then. He was grateful that she cared so much about him. When asked how he would describe Kay, he said, "She is sweet, kind, wonderful and professional. She treats me and all the patients here well. She treats me like a king and my family like queens. I am grateful for all that she does for me."
Kay certainly deserves to be recognized for all that she does for her patients. She is a role model for nursing and is very deserving of the DAISY Award.
