Recently, I got the worst news of my life. My grandma had a hemorrhagic stroke and was rushed to KU Medical. My family and I were devastated. Grandma was on the 9th floor ICU. I have never met a nurse who is as compassionate and caring as Heather. She was so good to me and my family. She was all the time asking if we needed anything and when needed always there to give us hugs.
While still in the hospital, my grandma turned 89. When I walked into her room with cupcakes and balloons in my hand, grandma already had balloons from Heather, and she wasn't even grandma's nurse that day. Even when she wasn't grandma's nurse, she would always come in and check on us and give me a hug. She will never know how much she meant to me, but I will always remember her and what she did for me and my family.
