We had a patient admitted to RTU who came in with very dirty clothes and poor hygiene. This patient came from terrible living conditions and had no belongings other than the clothes he had on his back. The patient's clothes we removed before bathing were soiled, black, and covered with dirt/filth, to the point that they were stiff. Roaches and bugs were found in his belongings. When the patient was bathed, the water and soap were black from the dirt washed off of him. We gave him a gown, socks, and toiletries from our supply room.
Bailee was assigned to him that night, cleaned him and got him freshened up as much as possible. After finishing her shift, she clocked out and drove straight to Wal-Mart, where she purchased packs of socks, underwear, shoes, jeans, and shirts. All of these purchases were from her personal money. She then drove back to the hospital and brought all of these new things and gave them to his day shift nurse to give to the patient.
This is just one example of the extraordinary care Bailee gives to all of her patients in RTU. She is such an amazing nurse and person. She is a new graduate nurse and is a great example of what every nurse should be. Bailee Black is a true blessing to others!
