I have a variety of medical needs and communication with all of the doctors involved is challenging. Valerie has been a huge help to me since some serious problems developed in March. She was able to look at all the pieces of my medical situation and facilitate appropriate care. She has gone above and beyond by calling me personally and checking with me on how I am feeling.
Some of my medical problems developed suddenly and my provider was unavailable. Valerie spent significant time finding appointments with care providers who could see me quickly. She has been very kind and caring. She made me feel like my care was important to her. She monitored reports and followed up with doctors and appointments, keeping me informed appropriately. There were times when she called me daily. She never made me feel like I was a burden. She made me feel like it was her pleasure to help me.
Valerie is located in Bangor but understands the system and is able to contact the main facility at Togus when necessary. After an Emergency room visit she followed up with radiology, gastroenterology, laboratory, and gynecology. She kept the provider and me informed and on task at all times to insure the continuity of my care.
Her compassion made this trying time more bearable. I think she exemplifies everything this award stands for. She is compassionate, competent and has exhibited a wonderful interpersonal connection with me.

Valerie Frost is the nurse for my Primary Care. I was having trouble breathing. I was not scheduled to see my PCP for 2 months and she was on vacation. Valerie returned my call and offered me an appointment with someone else and went over my options of seeing an outside Physician or going to the ER at Togus. She then got me a follow up appointment after my ER visit. Her coordination of the appointments was appreciated but her calm reassurance and kindness combined with her medical knowledge was heaven-sent. She is always going above and beyond to give us what we need and help us through.
