Kelly Lynn Gleason is an exceptional oncology nurse. She has gone above and beyond in caring for patients and their familes. Her personalized special care is essential to our patients who have a long hospital stay at our 10W-BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) unit. She has learned to connect to herpatients with her attentive nursing care, great sense of humor, delightful personality, and talents such as paper crafting and manicure.
I remembered one elderly bed-bound patient who had a poor prognosis and had been on our unit for a long time. After getting to know this patient, Kelly brought a set of nail colors and started to have a therapeutic conversation with this patient while painting her nails. Kelly continued to take great care of this patient until her very last day. The patient and her family expressed great gratitude of Kelly's care and support.
Kelly excels in team work and charge nurse duties. She is always willing to help other team members. Her positive attitude and hard work set an example for her fellow nurses. When emergencies arise on the unit, Kelly offers great assistance regardless who the primary nurse was to that patient. She handles her daily workload with an attitude of pride in taking care of patients, and her diligence shows in the safety and quality of patient care. Kelly's approach to her patients and their family makes her a special part of the BMT unit and the NYP hospital. She deserves to be recognized for her exceptional care.
