Angie Terry is an exceptional nurse in so many ways. One example was when a longtime patient of Oncology was passing away and his 9 year old granddaughter was present. His granddaughter thought the world of him and he was like a father to her and with his passing she was inconsolable. Angie entered the room to check and see if she could be any assistance. This patient at the time wasn't assigned to her but being a team player, she was there. As she noticed the patient taking his last breaths she started explaining and comforting the family. The granddaughter was devastated and Angie took the time to comfort and explained the situation to her. When it was time Angie took the granddaughter from the room to distract her while the patient's daughter and wife had their time to grieve. Angie stayed over on her shift to make sure this girl was ok and to be able to help.
Angie went above and beyond in making sure this family was taken care of especially his granddaughter. Angie treated this child as her own and helped her deal with the realization as best as possible for her age. The family was so appreciative of Angie and for her taking the time to help this child and console her. Because of Angie's intervention this became a more positive experience than what it could have been without her help. This is just one of the examples of her above and beyond care she gives with the patients every day.
