Newly diagnosed with cancer, Debra took a real interest in me and my family. She helped us understand what my diagnosis meant, what the treatment would be and how to manage it. She helped us to feel hopeful and not scared. She was so kind and caring. She was knowledgeable and would call us even when she was not going to see us that day to make sure we were okay and managing. She would talk to other family members when asked to. She took care of everyone. When she did the pleurex drainage, she was so careful. She explained everything so well that no one was afraid. She was the best nurse that we have ever had and she really took care of everyone and not just me. We could never have gotten through the shock of cancer diagnosis and the treatment without Debra. She really felt like a part of the family.
