I was admitted with second-degree burns at my ileostomy site. I was in great pain and very scared. Thank goodness Suzanne Owen was my main nurse. She was persistent in communicating with the wound department and setting me up with an ostomy wound expert.
She also changed my ileostomy apparatus when we noticed it was leaking, which is why I had theburns. Changing an ostomy bag is no small matter. She asked my husband for assistance (he had the necessary supplies and changed my ostomy bag many times). The two of them interacted with humor and mutual respect, as though they were an experienced medical team who worked together for many years. It was both comforting and entertaining. Nurse Owen is compassionate, professional, personable and highly efficient. I realize these traits are rarely found in one person. Suzanne is that rare person. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
