"Leadership is not a position or title, it is action and example." As a bedside nurse, Becky Waggoner is the epitome of this quote. Becky leads by example, has extraordinary skills, is a great team player, and always goes above and beyond to make a difference in her patients' and her co-workers' lives.
Becky has a wealth of knowledge that she is always willing to share. This is extremely helpful on a unit with a very young staff. She never hesitates to lend a helping hand or enhance the knowledge of her peers. She is always willing to help educate us and help us critically think as well. She takes new nurses "under her wing" even when she is not assigned to precept them. Nurses feel comfortable approaching Becky with questions and concerns when needed, and most of the time Becky is offering assistance or answers even before they arise.
We know when we work with Becky; we always have someone to count on. Becky might not have a leadership title, but to us she is a leader, a role model and the nurse we all strive to become.
