Salisha is amazing. Whether her role for the night is charge or she is taking her own patients, she does it with grace! Tonight for example, her role was to take patients but as we entered I heard "Salisha, we just got 7 admissions called and we need you as charge." Without even a sigh of complaint she was ready to take report.
As a nurse leader, she is always hands on with us and always present. If she has to administer a medication or just change a diaper or feed a baby she is doing it before even asked. If she is on her 6th or 7th day in a row, you would not be able to tell. She is always willing to pick up an extra shift to help our unit and her fellow nurses. She is always approachable, and exhibits a very gentle approach to handling any situation. I have never heard her complain about anything or anyone. Even when things get extremely stressful, she remains composed.
Tonight, like many other nights, I see this extraordinary example of being hands on and remaining composed. With multiple admissions arriving at the same time, Salisha is helping to get each one settled. She is at the bedside easing the worries of patients and applying cool cloth to one of our patients with a temp of 104. She is always moving forward getting things done with a smile on her face. She is our DAISY!
