Ross is a new nurse but one of the most caring and thoughtful nurses I have worked with. Ross is never too busy to help his co-workers, patients, or visitors. Ross always has a smile and even when he is overwhelmed he does not show it.
We haven't had an Assistant Manager on second shift, for years, but Ross is that stable presence that allows for calm and respect every day. He is always willing to help our manager with any shift and any time, and is doing a great job precepting new nurses.
I can remember a recent situation that Ross had to discharge a patient he never had before, he made sure the patient showed him exactly how she would administer insulin at home, check her sugars and made sure she understood everything before discharge. Ross had another 2 discharges and 1 admit at this same time, and that patient never felt rushed.
Ross sees each and every patient as a family member and spends the time to find out what each patient's needs are, in order to help them get better.
Ross always appreciates his co-workers, makes sure he points out the great things we do, and thanks us for the help every single day, we are always willing to go above and beyond to help because Ross is willing to do the same with us.
Ross is a great role model and we love having him as our second shift resource nurse (a.k.a. "boss"). I'm not sure how Ross feels about being seen as a DAISY but the idea of a DAISY Nurse, as I see it on the website, is the description of the care he provides.
