Patty oriented me as a new employee returning to Hinsdale's Lactation Dept. to the MBU Lactation. Lactation has really changed in the last 10 years here at AHH and she was so helpful getting me caught up with new practices and tips to triage/organize my MBU patients. She was very helpful with charting and report off. Her care and connection with our families is very knowledgeable and friendly. After she leaves the patient's room, solving their lactation issue, the patient/family are very satisfied. She puts a lactation plan in place individualized for each patient/family and communicates this plan with the MBU nurses.
When I follow her the next day and re-check her patient's lactation status, all are satisfied and most are breastfeeding their babies successfully! Every patient is as appreciative of her help because "breastfeeding" is very important for mom and baby on a personal level.
I see her always have a positive attitude with peers, staff, management, and physicians. Patty communicates well with everyone in a factual and straightforward manner. She gets "things" done efficiently and in a timely manner. I personally feel that she was a wonderful mentor during my re-orientation and look up to her as my peer! She is always approachable. I feel her positive aura whenever I am working with her and feel it rubs off on others.
I know she also does so many other things at AHH i.e., L&D staff RN-RNC, teaching classes, Lactation Outpatient Clinic, always willing to work extra, etc. Patty is considered an outstanding role model for many others.
