Julie Nichols is an extraordinary nurse. Not only does she take clinically strong and compassionately based care of her patients, she also does an extraordinary job as a charge nurse in CVICU. As with all units in the hospital, stressful & demanding situations regularly occur. Julie never allows her inner stress to show. Regardless of what is going on around her with patients, patient flow, staffing, she consistently remains calm and in control. Julie makes herself available for questions and for assistance, taking the time to teach and never making anyone feel inferior for seeking assistance. She is a talented nurse and a great leader.

Julie treats all her patients with quality, skilled, compassionate care regardless of who they are, how long they have been there, how nice they are to her, or who their physician is. Her standard is excellent care. She is the nurse that we all aim to be.

How do I feel when I see that Julie is on for my shift? Relief. I know that we will all be ok. I know that she will find the resources we need to successfully provide better than adequate patient care. I know that the expectation will be for excellence and that she will be there to support that endeavor. Julie is clinically strong. She is a very smart nurse. She pairs that intellect with a heart full of compassion and mercy. She treats her patients how we would all want our own families to be treated. She interacts with her peers in a supportive, respectful, encouraging manner. It is truly a joy to work with her!
