Winter is an amazing person and nurse. There is a fine line between getting too close to the patients and their families and separating yourself from getting too close. My wife is in the SICU and these patients are the most critical. She took care of my wife but at the same time I felt the human side of her listening to my stories and also taking care of my wife. I see the compassion and care she gives. I like to stay with my wife at shift change to meet the nurse who will be taking care of my wife. I have been here for 7 days already and things don't look good. Tonight Winter is coming back to take care of us and for the first time, I am able to leave early and take care of other things at the house. I know I don't have to stay for shift change because I know Winter will be taking great care of my wife.
