Lisa was assisting a patient with discharge planning. This patient was to undergo major abdominal surgery and additional treatments and surgeries. He shared that he was concerned about getting home quickly because he had two dogs at home alone. It was 90 degrees at this time and at the time of conversation with the patient the dogs had been home alone for almost 24 hours. Concerned, Lisa started reaching out to animal shelters for support, unfortunately without any luck. The patient was very concerned about his animals. Lisa worked with the patient to set up care for the animals while he was an inpatient and went above and beyond in providing care.
