I was in terrible pain due to kidney stones. I was taken in for a procedure and when I was put in my room, Kareen was my nurse. I hated the world and was in such horrible pain. Just seeing Kareen's smile and bouncy, curly hair enter the room made me feel better. She did everything for me. She brought me water, Ginger Ale, and hot tea. She listened to my moaning and complaining and my sob stories with compassion and caring. I am sure she had other things to do. I drove her crazy. I rang the nurse's bell about every 5-minutes, and she always entered the room with a big smile and asked what she could do for me. She has the patience of a saint: I got tangled up in my IV-stand, I knocked over a glass of water…all over the sheets. She calmly changed the sheets with a smile, assuring me that it was no big deal. She was very knowledgeable about every question I asked her about my pain. I sent her to the refrigerator for ice cream and Jell-O, and she did so, with never a sour-looking face but always a great big smile. Thank you, Kareen!
