I was admitted for alcohol detox. Amy was one of my day shift nurses. The first thing she did was to introduce herself. She pulled up a chair to my bedside and wanted me to tell her about myself. This helped me tremendously because she made me feel safe and that someone else was there for me besides my mother. The next day I was emotional and once again Amy pulled a chair to my bedside to comfort me. God has blessed her with the gift of showing compassion and giving comfort to others. It is rare in our busy society for someone to stop and take the time to truly listen to someone else's needs. At the end of her shift, she made sure to come to my room to wish me the best and hug me and my mother. I will never forget the kindness she gave me during my hospital stay.
