Laura was nominated by the family of an adolescent who sustained a serious kidney injury. He was in considerable pain. The father stated Laura went above and beyond while caring for their son to ensure his pain was controlled. There was a bit of difficulty getting in touch with the physicians regarding his sons pain. Laura persevered until an MD came to the bedside to address the issues. He stated she showed compassion, empathy, and concern for not only their son but also for them, his parents. She was constantly in the room making sure he, as well as his mom and dad were comfortable. He stated her clinical skills were exemplary. She was an "Outstanding" nurse and he felt she deserved to be recognized for her care and dedication.
