My older brother is fighting stage 4 cancer and was admitted because of an overwhelming amount of pain. This pain was unlike anything I've seen in my life. My brother TJ could not find a single comfortable position. This was causing him to have frustration and anxiety, and the situation felt helpless to us.

Denny's approach to nursing was calming to TJ. He came into the room with an empathy and understanding of TJ's situation. HE spoke with TJ about any and everything that TJ was concerned about and put him at ease in this trying time. In addition to caring for TJ, Denny went out of his way to explain everything to multiple family members who may not have understood things otherwise.

Denny made my brother's stay at Hamot a bit better, ensuring that he was always as comfortable as possible. The last day that TJ was in the hospital, TJ turned to me and said: "I really like Denny, he's alright." Denny is truly an angel, and we are so honored that he took such excellent care of my brother. UPMC Hamot is lucky to have such a nurse.
