Tracy Sands' highest priority in performing her nursing duties is clearly PATIENT CARE, demonstrated by her performance of the technical nursing skills she employs, as well as the compassion she shows to her patients. I experienced Tracy's excellent care as a patient on her unit for over 4 weeks. I had a large wound in a difficult location, and there were many dressing failures. Tracy always quickly evaluated each problem and immediately set about solving each situation as it came up. Tracy simultaneously explained to me, educated me and boosted my morale while also collaborating with her co-workers to address each issue. Tracy's compassionate care was a gift to me as a patient.

I have had the pleasure of working with Tracy for the last four years. When I first met her and saw her in practice, I was awestruck by her exceptional level of nursing skill and holistic approach to nursing. She consistently has this ability to make nursing look easy because she is extremely competent at what she does. When she is the nurse assigned to my patient, I breathe a sigh of relief because I know that my complicated patient is in the most capable hands. She is smart, compassionate, empathetic, munificent and the quintessential multitasker and team player. She has a stellar work ethic and exhibits integrity in her interactions with patients, families and colleagues. I've witnessed her taking care of numerous patients and their families over the years. She honestly treats them as if they were a member of her own family. This truly exemplifies the level and quality of care that her patients receive. She has been a true partner and colleague in helping me manage some of my very complicated wound and ostomy patients. Tracy is a true asset to the nursing profession. She is also very humble and probably won't appreciate the spotlight I am placing on her with this nomination, but she truly deserves to be formally recognized for her extraordinary service.
