I nominate Tami Curtis for her devotion and extraordinary effort that she has put into bettering the care that we provide to our patients experiencing an acute myocardial infarction.
Over the past year, Tami has been working with Pharmacy to make improvements in ordering of high risk drugs for patients experiencing an acute myocardial infarction. She has been a driving force in making order sets for Heparin and Integrilin safer. With CPOE, the drugs were being calculated differently in the computer than on the paper order set. This left margin for error that Tami recognized and brought to leadership's attention. Tami has conducted meetings with Pharmacy, ED leaders, our ED Educator, and IS in effort to remedy the problems. Tami also serves as an Emergency Department representative on the Level One Heart Attack Committee. She is very instrumental in bringing current practice issues to the table and relaying best practice back to her peers. Tami's passion to provide best patient care is admirable. We are fortunate to have her on our team.
