I would like to nominate Teri from CCU/MICU on the night shift. I’m a nurse in Kansas City that was brought to Cox due to my uncle being in hepatic encephalopathy. Teri was not his primary nurse but was there when we arrived at 12:30 am. I brought another uncle from Warsaw to Cox to see his brother. They are very simple, under-educated men that have limited medical knowledge. I tried to prepare him for the grim prognosis of his brother but after many times of repeating myself I realized he was not grasping the poor outlook.
Teri was exemplar with her explanation! She was very kind and compassionate. She had a lot of patience and explained everything to him in such a simplified manner that he began to understand his brother would never wake up. She was a great resource for our family too. She helped us find the Cox hotel and it was absolutely perfect. Even though we were only in contact with Teri for a short amount of time, I could see what an extraordinary nurse she is. She even helped me when I called in just to check on my uncle.
I appreciate Teri’s time, effort, and the work she does every day. Thank you so much Teri, for what you do.
