I have worked with Karen for many years, first on 2 Hussey now currently on 1 Hussey. Karen not only took on a new role as a cardiac nurse, but she also took on new initiatives succeeded as charge nurse on 1 Hussey. Karen is an outstanding nurse and team player who on numerous occasions has put this unit before herself and her family. Karen is currently working on bettering her education and will have her BSN complete by summer 2017. Karen is always working to better herself and the unit, she puts great emphasis on hospital practices and Atlantic Health Care PRIDE VALUES. The compassion and care she shows for staff and patients are truly remarkable.
Karen embraces all unit challenges and does this with a positive attitude. Her outstanding leadership skills and her enthusiastic approach to patient care makes everyone feel at ease, she is a true role model.Karen is kind-hearted, she is not only a phenomenal colleague to work next to but also an amazing friend.
Recently Karen did something wonderful for a co-worker, this co-worker was me. Many know I have a family member who has been battling cancer, therefore this has caused me to take a great deal of time away from my children. Working full-time, going to school and dealing with a family illness has been rough; Karen is my Guardian Angel. I came to work on a Friday after a long week and she presented me with dinner and dessert all ready to go for me and my children. I don't think Karen could ever realize how much her selfless acts have impacted me and my family. Her thoughtfulness and kind acts go above and beyond what I would ever expect from a colleague. Karen is not only a professional colleague but she is an amazing friend.
