Our father was a patient at St. Luke's Hospital. We've seen several nurses and patient techs during his 9-day stay and from his 10-day stay in 2016. Carly stood out to us as going "above and beyond" to help make our father's stay the most comfortable. Words can't express the gratitude we had knowing the wonderful care our father received from Carly. It's never easy seeing a loved one in the hospital for any length of time. Seeing the care she showed and knowing that she was his nurse brought us comfort when we took breaks from his room. It takes a special person to become a nurse and to care for their patients as if it was a loved one of their own. From the moment we were introduced to Carly she "clicked" with our father. Plain and simple, he was a grumpy man on the outside but when you got to know him and understand him, he was pleasant, friendly, kind and good-hearted. If he didn't give you a hard time, then he didn't care about you. She took great care of our father as if he was her own grandfather. She carried on conversations and he would light up when she walked in the room.
Once we moved father up to Hospice, Carly stopped up to see Dad one more time and told us stories and memories she had of him, it brought us comfort in knowing she cared deeply for him. This meant so much to us. Carly will forever hold a special place in our father's heart and in ours for the excellent care and compassion she showed and gave our father in his final days. Her compassion and positive attitude while caring for our father was above and beyond normal duties and will never be forgotten!
