“I would like to take time to nominate Lasha. From the time Lasha has accepted and taken the CTC position on 5 East – the unit, I feel, has had a definite growth in the direction of professionalism, team work and organization when she is in charge. She excels in communicating with the staff- the MDs rounding depend on her input. She gives prompt exact assignments to the CNA’s, secretaries and fellow RN’s regarding patient care and safety. She is a quiet, understated person. I feel her knowledge of the hospital in general (having worked here many years) is helpful.
I had a patient who was discharged home. His wife was a cancer patient at Midway offices with an appointment – he had no ride to get there. Lasha knew our security patrols that area and arranged a ride for him to meet his wife. I did not ask her to do this. She has knowledge of each patient on the unit and helps the nurses assigned to them when needed. She responds promptly to a patient having a medical difficulty. She maintains a professional attitude in times of duress and conflict with staff and patient families. She uses her time wisely and strives to keep the unit running smoothly. I have never asked her a question she did not find out the answer-concerning policies and procedures. She has excellent IV skills. She has helped me find O2 for a patient – for homecare (when case management was off). She knows the discharge processes well. Her staff respects her and go to her with problems because they feel comfortable – she would maintain their privacy. I feel Lasha is very deserving of being a candidate for this award. I respect her and her abilities.”
